Funeral program from Michael Jacksons memorial/message from Rebbie
by Pandoras cat11 ini know there have been many mj threads and probably everyone is sick to death of hearing of this event---but i just had to share this message from the funeral program.
one of our local dj's was able to go to the staples center and attend this memorial and he shared the program on the radio stations website.
the website wouldn't let me cut and paste it here, so i will write word for word what rebbie (his sister) wrote to him.. i love you so much and i'm looking forward to the time when i'll see you again on earth (john 5:28-29).

I know there have been many MJ threads and probably everyone is sick to death of hearing of this event---but I just had to share this message from the funeral program. One of our local DJ's was able to go to the Staples center and attend this memorial and he shared the program on the radio stations website. I love you so much and I'm looking forward to the time when I'll see you again on Earth (John 5:28-29). I know this something you not only cherished but talked about with others. Then the world will be a paradise, a place free from corruption and poverty. Then the world will be a place of true peace and serenity. This is what we were all looking to, then I'll see you again. Sleep in peace, because as the Bible says, you're just asleep and I look forward to life without end at last. (Psalms 37:29)
Your sister Rebbie
The Dj read this particular message and got all choked up. Crap, it makes me choke up too, only because it is such a simple and beautiful thought. It is unfortunate that religion dictates who this applies too... Also, I wonder if she truly believes this or just used this as an occasion to witness.
Thoughts?
Oh, if you want to see this actual message from the program along with all the other pictures, pm me and I will give you the Website

Need newest updated info on societys view of Disfellowshiped one
by annalice ini have heard from a friend that this most recent assembly had a new publication released that has some info in it discussing the treatment of disfellowshipped ones.
i know that a new song book was issued out but had not heard of anyother new publications.
at this time what is the society telling their flock to do pertaining to those disfellowshipped ones.

I do know that they don't announce that a person is disfellowshipped. They say "John Smith" is no longer a Jehovah's Witness". They still get treated the same. The change was for legal reasons. My mom missed the memo or new light on this and started talking to a person to which this had happenned. Oh the horror!!!

What are the current rules to have a JW funeral?
by JWoods inin light of the mj debacle clogging up almost all channels of communications today, i began wondering: what does it take to be told that you cannot have a proper jw burial service?.
in the case of jackson, we suspect that he was either da'd or dissasociated at some point in the late 80s.
i can remember rumors before i left in the early 80s of a rift with the elders over that thriller album...and that he was either privately or publicly reproved over it.. he is known to have married a scientologist, divorced her, and later married another woman to have kids by arrangement, then divorcing her, and possibly getting into a third marriage.. he is known to have dabbled in both islam, the kabala, and possibly other religions.

I don't think any of the brothers would give up any chance of indoctrinating anyone who attended a funeral who was not a witness. The funeral talks are the most impersonal talks I have ever heard. It's about 7-10 minutes speaking about the deceased (where he was born, what he did for a living) and the 15-20 of doctrine. They do touch on the resurrection hope. Barely. At one of the funerals my mom told me there was a table by the door and all the literature was there for anyone who wanted it. She thought it was great. A known drug addict died recently and had his funeral at the hall. Strange huh?

Why doesn't the WT just make a statement of MJ's standing with them?
by purplesofa ini just heard mention on the news of jw's again pertaining to burial etc concerning mj.. i have heard and read more jw stuff in the media since his death than ever in the media.. why not just come out and make a statement where mj stood with the organization?.
.

I heard on the news that the funeral at Forest Lawn was to be in line with Katherine Jacksons strong religious beliefs as a "Jehovah"s Witness". I can't help but think that every elder in the L.A area (secretly) wanted that gig!!! I agree---it's great publicity for them. I wonder if Brother Prince and Sister Serena&Venus Williams will attend?

Glad you had a good time!! The cat in me would come out though and wonder what was Sister June Morgan and company doing at a club that was three deep at the bar!!! Sounds like they were there a long time. If they are like most of the J.W.'s I know, they were pretty sloshed themselves. I like to have a good time too----but I don't tattle to grown adults Mommy and Daddy that their daughter was having a good time. They should look at themselves in the mirror first. SHEESH.
Oh yeah---they were supposed to follow the scriptures in Matthew and speak to you first. Or if they are submissive little Stepford wives they would have told their husbands and they in turn would have talked to your hubby. (GAG)

Weird stuff individuals believe
by bluecanary inthis thread doesn't just have to be about jws.
it's about the weird stuff that isn't taught by the religion, but an individual believes it.

Most have been mentioned. Brings back bad memories! How about not seeing "PG" movies? Had an elder say that PG stood for putrid garbage. What an idiot.

Ok, fess up, how many of you dirt-bags were into that sleazy network-marketing crap?
by gubberningbody inseems to me that you could go to any one of those meetings and find a jw.. oh and weren't there alway those theocratic urban legends about some family somewhere who bought into said ponzi scam and they all quit their jobs and are pioneering now that they've gotten into it?.

I was the sucker who threw the parties for the person selling the products. I spent money on food and beverages only to have nobody show up or worse---everyone would show up. I think they came because of the free food! Selling Princess House was big as was Mary Kay, Sarah Coventry, Avon, Tupperware, Herbal life!! These are all good products but enough already.

Barbecue chicken/baked beans/veggies with dip/chips. The state I live in has kicked up the price on booze and you can only get the "spirits" at a booze store. What is up with that?-----so it will be wine coolers. When the fireworks start I will spend the rest of the night prying my cat off the ceiling.....
